The Paintings
How the pictures are made
Nearly every major episode on this site travels with a painting. The inspiration is the tradition of Raja Ravi Varma: the depth of oil color, the dignity of courts and forests, the stillness in the faces.
They are made with today’s tools. A locked visual style, AI assistance, and a single purpose: these pages. Every painting is then checked against the text of its story: who stands where, what they wear, what they hold, which moment it is. A painting that fails the check is made again; those changes are recorded on the Corrections page.
Their job is the one a grandfather does when he opens an old illustrated pothi in the family room: to bring the story closer.
